The non-glass pH electrode is designed for ease of use. A unique PVC membrane senses the pH of liquids over the 2 to 12 pH range. The solid PVC sensing surface is recessed inside a rugged, one piece epoxy body to protect it from accidental contact, this is then potted into a 3" long 3/4" PVC nipple. The electrode's nipple is screwed into user-supplied coupling and pipe to provide continuous monitoring of the process. The PHE-820-10-HF is designed as a combination electrode which includes a built-in double junction reference electrode. Although PVC membrane electrodes have narrower measurement ranges than glass pH electrodes, OMEGA's unique design can measure over the 2 to 12 pH range. The electrode is calibrated in the usual way with buffers. However, the active chemical in buffer 4, phthalate, will poison the PVC membrane and must be avoided. The pint bottle of 4.75 pH Acetate buffer is supplied with each electrode. The PHE-820-10-HF can be used with any pH meter that the span or the slope can be adjusted.
